An employee can be replaced, a parent can’t. (Part 2).

Work, money and family;

Your boss likes you. He buys you little gifts, he mentions your name and encourages others to be like you in putting extra hours at work. This will obviously actuate you to do more, and then yet again, not creating time for your family. You want to meet a goal, your boss wants to open another company and will only do so if YOU work very hard for him. NOT YOU!

But! How much is much money? I ask. You are making money but can’t take your family on a vacation, you are making money to pay rent in the house that you hardly live in, you make money to buy fine food and you don’t even get to enjoy it.

Meanwhile, you are unknowingly beating your body up senselessly. You are battering your whole self ironically doing a very selfless act.

Now, imagine your body caves in, and you have to go to a hospital, imagine God forbid it is an illness that you brought it all to yourself because you never rested when you needed to. Remember our bodies need taking care of too and if you ignore it, it will surely let you know in so many ways; little but frequent headaches, unbearable backache, joints start to hurt and you become immensely fatigued.

It becomes too much and you have to take an emergency sick leave. Which might go on and on for what seems to be forever. I want you to think long and hard, DO YOU THINK THAT YOU WILL BE REPLACED? Oh very much. Immediately you are no longer able to function as good as you have been, the boss will not hesitate to bring in someone new. Your replacement will be known gently at first as ‘sitting in for you.’ But for how long will the person continue sitting before he is hired completely in your place?

But guess who will never replace you? That’s right, your family. They will have you through your health and illness. Now that you are home, they still need you and love you even as bed ridden as you might be. But what now? All the money that you have worked for all the years is now being used in hospital bills. You are in pain that you can’t even use that time to play and laugh with your children. You might be finally home, but you can’t go to any of their school or outdoor activities.

The difference;

You have been replaced at your place of work, you were the very instant that you

became ill. But at home, you are still a parent. No one will go finding another you when it comes to family.

But you can change all that. You can have and enjoy both in equal measures. But how?…..

An employee can be replaced, a parent can’t. (Part 3).

Please read part 3 and the last next.
